Obama Cup 2020 Workshop Series – Soft Skills Training

Generation Kenya has partnered with FFA to deliver a Soft Skills Training aimed towards improving youth employability.

Obama Cup 2020 Workshop Series will feature four(4) workshops in the week leading up to the tournament. Our partners, including Generation Kenya – Soft Skills Training; Emerging Leaders Foundation – Values-based Leadership in Sport; Project Management Institute Kenya Chapter – Skills for Life Introduction to Project Management and Bena Care Kenya – Health and Wellness for Sportspeople will facilitate the co-events. Through the workshops, we aim to improve employability, leadership skills and general well-being of participants.

Generation is one of the world’s largest demand-driven youth employment programs, providing young adults with the opportunity to launch successful careers and change their life trajectories. As a global non-profit, Generation was founded by McKinsey & Company with the vision of availing a career-launching job for every young person, anywhere in the world. The program is active in 13 countries to date, with plans to expand to a few more countries this year.

In a span of four years, Generation Kenya has trained over 17,000 candidates across five different industries. 82% of them have been placed in meaningful employment with our 400+ employer partners, through the funding support of USAID, McKinsey & Company, Swedish International Development Agency (Sida), IKEA Foundation Safaricom Foundation and the partnership of over 40 TVET institutions. Our candidate profile is one of the marginalised groups, with 70% of our graduates having a grade C or below and 57% of our graduates being female.
